Portable implementation (with coil) of Leon Chua's chaotic oscillator with a range from pure sine wave to chaos and bifurcation phenomena. This chaotic generator is particularly useful for control. In custom metal housing with switch, mono full-size jack and one potentiometer/knob for tuning into chaotic region.

Open design (custom) - modular noise processing with a microcontroller using various algorithms such as cellular automata to drive granular synthesis/sampling and to switch the signal route through various other modules (these include distortion, LFO, VCA, switched filter, schmitt trigger neural network and switched frequency divider - potentially also sample and hold). Sources are input jacks and also an avalanche transistor noise module. The ideal housing is encased in resin and jelly, placed within a shopping bag - which doesn't travel well so we designed a new housing/instrument using glitter hot glue and plasterboard. 3] [new] VLF-2 natural radio receiver - ready constructed (72 euros)

New design for a ready constructed ELF/VLF natural radio receiver unit roughly based on the NASA INSPIRE VLF-3 receiver. Small unit in metal housing (without telescopic antenna) for listening and recording both natural and man-made ELF and VLF audio-frequency (between 300 Hz and 10 kHz) radio emissions. The unit has two mini-jack (3.5mm) plugs for both a recording device (mic level input) and headphones (with volume control), and a BNC socket for antenna connection (only). A (9v) battery is included. The device is only suitable for use away from power lines within the countryside or a large city park.

BYRON the board PROTOTYPE

0] ATmega8 multi-purpose sensor/USB/programmer board [assembled] (18 euros)

Basic ATmega8 breakout/prototype board with voltage regulation, programming header, and I/O ports. The [assembled] board can also be supplied at no extra cost pre-programmed for a USB connection (HID) firmware providing very fast, high resolution sensor input (six analogue inputs: all ten bit) into free software such as Pure Data (PD) or Supercollider(SC). Tested on Windows, OS X and GNU/Linux. Alternatively the kit can be supplied pre-programmed as an usbasp compatible AVR in system programmer (ISP). More details at:

Based on a transistor avalanche white noise module with additional squaring up of wave, sampling with microcontroller (ATmega8), unbiasing and serial USB interface. Can be used with free software [/dev/random] as a hardware RNG for encryption, research and PK applications. The RNG performs well under many industry-standard tests examining random number distribution.

xxxxx_peenemünde presents documentation, archive material and original research resulting from the first series of working groups in Peenemünde conducted in early 2008.
